My book group is reading Divisadaro. I think we're reading Late Nights on Air too (any chance you're Canadian kpwerker?). I wasn't too happy after reading Divisadaro the first time, so it'll be interesting to see how I feel about it the second time.

Such an appropriate book to read for book club following Late Nights on Air. Similar themes of frontier, of sounds (in this book: bird song).
3 months agoI think I just gave both copies of this (I found I had a hardback and a soft cover) away, so I guess I'd better call it abandoned. It just didn't grab me.
3 months agoI loved the first section with Coop and the sisters. I was grumpy with the second section. We're doing this book in my bookclub this year, and I think I'll reread. I'm curious to see if I feel the same the second time around.
5 months agoI have found that my desire to continue reading this book is flagging. I lost the book when I was about half-way through and when I picked it up again, it just wasn't grabbing me. I'm not going to mark it as abandoned just yet...but it may be getting close.
5 months agoI've lost this book somewhere in the house. I remember putting it down and thinking..."This is an odd place to put this. I'll never remember where it is."
And sure enough...I don't.
5 months agoStarted this yesterday and really like it so far. Though in some ways it seems sketchy...I would have liked a little about Coop and gambling and such.
5 months agoThe first three-quarters of this novel was one of my best reads of 2007. Like Karen, it fell apart for me at the end as well. However, I liked (loved) it enough to go back at give it another try at some point.
5 months agoI naturally loved all the parts set in Sonoma and San Francisco, while it was focused on the two sisters and their estrangement. But once it headed off in several other directions, it fell apart for me. Lots of great stuff that somehow didn’t work on the whole.
